When someone says this you can immediately tell they're a massive retard. First of all, RE4 and remake are completely different games. RE4 Remake does not feature the same level design as RE4 and even removes certain scenes entirely such as the battle with the secret weapon.
Secondly, RE4 is not "dated." The game controls just fine. Arguably it's snappier than most modern games. Leon is fairly fast, and you can turn around at any time by pressing a certain button while pointing the analog stick backward. People will argue that not being able to move while shooting is dated, which is dumb. You having to be stationed was an intentional game design decision to create tension and create a risk and reward system. Likewise, 5 kept you being stationary for the same reason. Revelations (which was made by the same game designer as RE5) allows you to move and aim but significantly slows you down and increases the rate at which enemies dodge to compensate.
RE4 remake buffs enemies and reduces the effect certain things like knocking down enemies does, which just makes the game a generic third-person shooter.
I find it ironic that people claim the original has bad mechanics when the remake has far worse and more infuriating mechanics
Primarily bullet spread. Whenever you aim and shoot an enemy (which is harder because guns are shakier and the laser sights are gone on most of them), the accuracy of your shot is decided by RNG, even if you aim directly at their head. How is that a good mechanic or an improvement over the original's precision? Likewise, how are the forced stealth sections improvements over the original?
How is parrying better than quick-time events?
The people who claim the remake is better are actual retards who couldn't get past the original village because they're incapable of adapting to new control styles.
What's incredibly funny was seeing them claim every single section that was removed from remake was cheesy or unnecessary, then when capscum released an adaption of the cut content they all praised them for doing it. "So cool cutting out content and selling it as dlc! They knew it'd ruin the pacing of the main game! So considerate!"
How is it that companies like Capcom get a free pass on being greedy? People will trash Nintendo for being greedy when Capcom is Nintendo on steroids. Not only do they initially sell their games for $70, but they intentionally cut out content day one to sell as separate dlc.
For example, you have to pay money for certain costumes or the original soundtrack.
Yet next to one one calls it out because they're afraid of going against the new thing and angering consumers.
