I’m halfway through and while the worldbuilding is way ahead of the typical generic isekai slop setting, it’s bogged down by being foidslop (too much ‘I’m losing muh beauty and being overworked by cruel old hag’) and poor pacing. There’s like a 9 episode arc about some side character that doesn’t contribute to the greater plot in any way. MC taking over the kingdom is completely skipped over as well. The characters aren’t bad but the slow af story doesn’t give them much to do. The male characters (Rakushun, Enki, Shouryuu) mog but haven’t done much as of yet

It’s far, far better Escaflowne though. That series was complete slop with worldbuilding just as if not more generic than the average isekai, awful mess of a plot, characters are awful (average nice girl mary sue MC yet Escaflowne fags complain about modern isekai self insert gary stus, dogshit bishoujo males, awful antagonists), only redeeming trait is the OST. Don’t take the Escaflowne bait.

People who talk about old isekai being better are BSing, they always point to the same aforementioned foidslop series or some boring slop like Dunbine or misery porn with bland characters (Now and Then, Here and There). They aren’t contested because nobody bothers watching their crap
