On April 21, 2022, the court found Shadeed Abdulmateen guilty of intentional murder and rape on his 23 year old student Chen Shijun.
The court sentenced him to death by firing squad.
The case had stirred up a wave of anti-foreigner sentiments in China and had triggered a lot of discussions on Chinese social media about the issue of "super-national treatment".
Abdul had a history of harassing girls at the school, and it got to the point where female students were afraid of attending his classes. Abdul repeatedly asked female students about the color of their underwear and attempted to invite them for private "cooking lessons".
Shadeed Abdulmateen is still awaiting for his execution date.
