New ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ Movie in the Works From Paramount (Exclusive)

The studio has inked a deal with the estate of Wes Craven to revive the Freddy Kreuger horror franchise and will release it via its newly launched Paramount Primal label.

This was probably the only one of those classic slasher series from the 70s/80s that was still lacking in fresh content. Friday the 13th is getting the Crystal Lake TV show, Halloween just had another trilogy (which should've been a duology to be honest), Child's Play had an entire multi-season TV show, Scream got a few new movies, you get the point. Hellraiser, if you consider it to be one of those, is probably the only one losing ground at this moment, and it still got a remake in 2022.

Nice to see all those franchises going strong, and damn, do I wish that this new movie will be good, along with those other projects coming up. If the world is just going to keep on being what it is, we might as well get some good movies with the slasher icons out of it.
