Years of pressure on the wood made it looser and looser and then it let loose and then it broke itself.
With liquid wood or something strong it can be repaired and restored to a uniform color and a new door closer could be installed,
Without buying a more expensive new door and installation services for the door.
Looks like an interesting job someday when you get into the mood for it.
Or someone else can do it
