I just read some threads here and just had this idea that Oneitis is caused by being raised by a single mother.
If she is single, she has been abandoned and she will raise her sons to be people that don't abandon women.
But relationships might end so the solution is to fixate on unattainable women.

Facially, my oneitis closely resembled Mother. This is, I believe, partially true for him as well.

No I don't think so. I wasn't close to my mom at all until I was an adult. If anything, it was because of how distant she was from me.
