I recall learning about this guy in history classes in my years in the "education" system, I recall I even read in a military history book that many of his tactics were essentially how not to win a battle.

Despite this, he still is a fairly interesting character in American history imo. Honestly, it would be interesting to see an alternate reality where he survived and fought in later wars, though given his style here imagine him as a WWI general of sorts fighting in some American front, he'd have cost tens of thousands of lives possibly.

I'm surprised we haven't had a modern day adaptation of a "Custers Last Stand" tbh

He had his own term "Custers Luck" due to his exploits then. He did have some competency as a commander ofc or else he wouldn't have made it this far, but he did often fall on sheer luck and ofc, had a massive ego he had to fulfill which is why stuff such as this happened.
