Most anime is done in copy and paste Adobe Photoshop now (heck you can animate and trace in Gimp).

In terms of mutilation, violence and sexual genitalia, seems standard fair animation even in mainstream animation like Doomed Megalopolis or WICKED CITY, so not sure why his work was banned and in some cases burned.
