Anyone else here who really thought they were on the cutting edge of politics and meme culture around 2014-2019 or so?
It really felt like around this time period for someone like me that there was a real shift in cultural consciousness about how nonworkable Neoliberal and Leftist culture wars bullshit was getting. I felt that my peers were really getting a change of attitude that were reflecting my own personal observations.
A couple of years ago I started to realize that this was all illusory. I retained a moral system from the 90s and early 2000s that I retained well into adulthood.
I really thought that when most of my peers complained about political correctness, feminism, wokism, white replacement theory, and freedom of speech: this indicated these people truly retained some semblance of that moral paradigm and they were realizing how backwards and fucked up the world was getting.
Turns out all of them only used these ideas to justify their own personal variances and morally repulsive behaviors, while almost totally adhering to the ideas of contemporary Neoliberal thought. All of them are total “apostates” from the value system they grew up with, and they all view me like a fucking vampire crypt monster for actually believing in some of these ideas.
Does anyone else feel like this? Are we just autistic that most people are vain retards and don’t actually believe in anything that isn’t to their own impulsive benefit?
Were our own ancestors like this?
