Oculus Go

Anyone get one or have an opportunity to try one in the short time it's been out? Every professional and consumer review has been positive. I thought FB buying the brand was going to really fuck it up but it seems like they allow Oculus to run pretty much as it wants to (more ore less as a separate entity). I've tried VR before but a standalone device and a well designed one at that is something I'm seriously considering. The fast switch LCD and new fresnel lenses are HQ and get lots of kudos.

My only concern is battery life. It's relatively short. I'm sure future iterations of Go will be much better in this regard. As I will be using it for gaming and Netflix I expect to get at least an hour and a half in current form.

I don't have a go, but I do have a Vive and based off my experience with the Vive, the go is go is an extra trash version of the vive and the vive isn't even worth it to begin with. Just get google cardboard and watch some porn because that is all you are going to be doing with the go.

Why waste money on a virtual reality game? It’s much cheaper to buy good games on whatever device you use.

I couldn't get any more white but the display is supposed to be better than Oculus. My PC can barely handle VR and it's not advanced enough to warrant a 2k PC. Not until major studios and publishers start throwing at least a few AAA games at it. That's going to happen but not yet. You have a Vive?

It's supposed to have a better display or on par with Vive. But it has 3dof (at least now) and Vive has 6dof. But it's supposed to mimic 6dof as much as it's able to via controller. Not into cardboard or porn. Nothing against porn but if I can't get the real thing I'm not going to watch some asshole get it. So you regret buying a Vive?

Valid point. If Microsoft holds true to their promise of more r&d (insiders say this has happened) in their Xbox division and is about to shock E3 then you're right. They might just announce their own VR. Then the Go won't be necessary. I'm going to hold off.
