Mohenjo-Daro was an ancient city in Pakistan which was inexplicably destroyed about 1700 BC. This city was, for its time, very advanced with multi-storey homes and inlet water in the houses. The streets were up to 8 meters wide and formed rectangular blocks. It looks like the entire city was built in one construction period, and that over 5,000 years ago. It is estimated that the city had 30-40,000 inhabitants.
During the excavations, skeletons were found of people scattered in the streets in such a way that they appeared to have perished inadvertently. The skeletons also had an abnormally high content of radioactivity. No one has come up with a good theory of why or how this civilization came to fruition so suddenly. Could it have been subject to a nuclear explosion?

An ancient Indian writing collection, Mahabaratha, tells of mysterious events over 8000 years ago. This verse may sound like a very good description of an atomic bomb hit:

Gurkha, flying in a fast and powerful flying machine, threw a solitary projectile loaded with all the forces of the universe. A white glowing column of smoke, and flames as bright as a thousand suns, rose in all its splendor. A vertical explosion with a wave of smoke rose after the first explosion, followed by expanding rings. This was an unknown weapon, an iron line, a giant killer who turned entire human races into ashes. The bodies were burned to the unrecognizable and hair and nails fell off.
