Especially considering that this ignores how the original game was designed with a certain resolution in mind. Once you upscale such games you loose the original illusion. This video is a perfect example. The 480p resolution hid the imperfections in the character models. Nintendo upscaled everything with the Super Mario 3d All Stars emulation and now it looks more outdated than the original.

(Just ignore how they removed the heat effect for whatever reason. I've already went on enough rants about modern devs not understanding visual tricks that help games look better)
Resident Evil remake is another good example. Because of the lower resolution the imperfections of the environments and character models are hidden making the game feel more real and intense.

All ports should include an option to lower resolution and play the original game without upscaled textures.
