Well democracy is essentially the majority oppressing the will of the minority, so it is a system opposed to freedom. And you are correct. The majority of citizens are NPCs who are unable to think for themselves. They derive their political opinions from whatever their favourite newspaper or talk show host tells them. True rule of the people will never exist. Either a monarch in a monarchy or the ones with capital in a democracy will dictate the direction a country is going.
