They think that as long as you are physically with one man at a time, you are monogamous.

So a woman who has had 10 different boyfriends is monogamous
A woman who is currently going on dates with 5 different men is monogamous
A woman who got fucked by two different men she met at the club on Friday and Saturday is monogamous, since they were separate events.
They will literally argue this. The fact is, monogamy means you only have one life partner. Women who have "broken up" with men will never be monogamous.

At least, if one partner dies, there may be another one. It refers only to a long term relationship, usually to raise offspring. Partnerships over several years definitely count as such, but also over just weeks or months, if there is intent for an exclusive relationship. Club/party/Tinder fucks are clearly promiscuous, Alpha chad bed jumping. Teenage boyfriends may be something in between. I can name several bird species who have lifelong partners. Some, like macaws I think, kill themselves if their partner dies. I wish we humans were as principled.
