Who was Norah Vincent?

Norah Vincent was an American jounalist born in 1968. (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norah_Vincent) An open lesbian who described herself as a feminist, she sought to examine the social differences between men and women through an 18 month experiment that would have her pose as a man named "Ned." She would join a men's bowling team, go to strip clubs, date women, join a monastery, attend a male therapy group, and whatever else it took to immerse herself in the role.

The Experiment

So, what was Norah's experience spending 18 months walking in the shoes of a sub-average male? Well, here are a few ancedotes that stood out to me.

"Well, it was interesting because, of course, I started out with all the female prejudices that I suppose each sex has its prejudices because we live on the other side of the divide, and we think, oh, you know, we have our prejudices. And I think, I learned to see my own sex from the other side a little bit and see some of the more unpleasant things. I think I also felt very small as a man in a way, you know that women really did have a lot of power in the dating situation, that they got to decide yes or now, and that I was one who had the cross the room and ask a woman out and so on and so forth, and the rejection was unpleasant. And so, in a sense, yes, I did see a little bit uglier side of women, but it may only appear that way also because I went in with much higher expectations of women in first place. I think I had the prejudice that we are more evolved." (Source: https://www.npr.org/transcripts/5171860)

(Continued)

"Well, certainly, as I say, there were certain words and certainly ways of expressing yourself that were just not okay. And you learned very quickly, negative reinforcement came fast and furious when you did something that wasn't acceptable. (Source: https://www.npr.org/transcripts/5171860)

"It’s awful. I think most women don’t have any idea how much guts it takes, how much emotional energy and confidence it takes to approach a woman. Men need ego because they don’t get to show weakness and they don’t get to show need, they have to compensate for it by a sense of, I can do this, I’m entitled, because that’s all they have." (Source: https://www.bookpage.com/interviews/8334-norah-vincent-biography-memoir/)

"When you see it from a guy’s point of view, you really realize that, if nothing else, at the most basic sexual level, women can really take it or leave it most of the time,” she says. “Just that aspect alone already gives us a leg up because we get to choose; we get to say, I’ll take you but I won’t take you. That’s a lot of power." (Source: https://www.bookpage.com/interviews/8334-norah-vincent-biography-memoir/)

"It's men who get rejected more in dating. It's women are the gatekeepers of sex. It's men who are in fact judged for expressing themselves or opening up about their feelings. And most importantly—that the feminist theory of male privilege is a lie."

Subsequent mental health issues

While her experiemnt only lasted for 18 months, Norah's experience left her with a serious case of depression that would persist until her death in 2022. Not only was she forced to institutionalize herself, (Source: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/...by-norah-vincent/9780143116851/readers-guide/) after suffering an emotional breakdown, but in 2022 she would eventually end her own life through the use of euthanasia. Conclusion

So, why is Norah Vincent's story so important? Well, it's because even a self-identifed feminist like her came to realize that women are inherintely more privileged than men—particularly when it comes to socialization and dating. Not only that, but she lost the will to live after getting a mere taste of what we are forced to endure every single day of our existence. My personal belief is that this same result would occur if other woman tried doing what she did.

Tl;dr: normie lesbian foid tries living 8 months as one of us for an experiment, ends up roping after developing severe mental health issues.
