I have been given that kind of advice always by guys that were successful with women (Not trying to say you are wrong, just a different perspective here), and I think the thing is, to them, that and less then that, worked.

Because if you an average (in my country) above-average or Chad guy, all you need to do is exist.

So to them, that's reality and worthy advice to give to sub-5s.

In reality, if you need to try at all, it's done for you, specially in the 2020s.
No haircuts, or personality warping powers will save you.
