Digital Computer Electronics by Malvino is a wonderfully easy book to read. He takes a slow step by step approach to explain how a CPU works. So simple. The same with Engineering Mathematics by Stroud. All I did was take my time everyday and worked my way through the books. I try to find and read good quality books and that's how I taught myself. The math gives confidence. I was flipping through them today to be honest. They are my good friends, them books.

I worked for a large telecoms company and they had a nice technical library with books by Comer, Stevens for networking and other classics. They sent me on a few courses too, some of which were really good. And always reading the man pages too.

So reading quality books is how I taught myself. I'm always reading Wikipedia pages too.

If you read the same book over and over it's as if the author is stood next to you. I was worried I was becoming schizo at one point.
