I can attribute my apathy to a couple of things:

1. Getting some validation through party invites and getting at least SOMEWHERE with a girl 
2. Realization that all "relationships" are trash and 99.9% of girls are used up
3. Full-fledged pursuit of my own interests

Despite this, I have never had a "girlfriend". And I don't want to. Once you accomplish these 3 things, I would advise you to not get a "girlfriend" as it is just a joke and a waste of time. Honestly, caring so little that you never once in your whole life bother to get a "girlfriend" is pretty badass.
