The government in Taiwan still claims to be the "Republic of China." They have not declared independence from China because that could provoke an invasion from the CCP. However, gen z Taiwanese are fully indoctrinated into Western woke ideology, and they believe that independence will ameliorate historical injustices against the indigenous Taiwanese in the same way that BLM's independent autonomous zones fought back against systemic racism. In reality, the vast majority of Taiwanese separatists don't have a single drop of indigenous blood in them, they've simply fallen for the same kind of social media psyops used on western populations.
