Let's also add the mental aspect: Niko has PTSD from war and probably many other mental pathologies, most likely insomnia(sleeps for like 6 hours or less) and 95% of the people he meets are temporary. Isn't that relatable for many of us?

Let's summarize this:
no foid gets really interested in Niko during the game and he doesn't show that much interested likewise. Storywise, you can only resort to prostitutes for sex, but let's see the sentimenal aspect

Michelle literally only fakes loving him to get informations. You can have sex with her but it's optional and probably non-canon.
The other 3 internet GFs are annoying af and you can clearly see they don't click in with Niko. My headcanon (and probably the true thing) is that he actually goes on date with all 3, but gets rejected after the first date (you can hear them say things like "from now on I'm only dating americans" or other rejections. Sex with them is non-canon.
Now the best part: Kate. She is the only one whom really clicks in with Niko but guess what? She only sees him as a friend. You cannot even have sex with her. Not ever. Also, if you ignore her advice in the endgame, guess what? After Niko is totally destroyed she DUMPS HIM. We do not even know if he ever had sex or not before the game player-choice.

He was also based off the antagonist from the movie Behind Enemy Lines. It was an American propaganda movie but everyone loved the villain who was badass.
