Thats been happening long before covid but now its gotten a lot worst. Like 5x worst. Target is closing their store hours much earlier and something like 13 walgreens in SF are shutting down for good because of shoplifting.
Honestly I'm more afraid of getting robbed at gunpoint when I'm getting takeout. I was never afraid of hobos. I'm pretty scrappy and can defend myself. I'm more concerned about a couple of black thugs jumping out from their cars and sticking me up at gunpoint. Which happens pretty often nowadays in SF and especially Oakland.
Ghetto thugs know that they can get away with crime in SF. Robbing old ladies, breaking into cars in broad daylight. Doesn't help that the governor let out tens of thousands of criminals. Now they're out roaming the streets preying on people.
All I have is pepper spray. If I get robbed at gunpoint I don't have an equalizer. I just have to take it up the ass and give them my wallet and phone. If they decide to kidnap me, make me withdraw money from the ATM, and execute me, then thats pretty much it. If I defend myself with a gun I will go to jail.

Many of these cases exist. People recognise a problem, but would never ever dare to adjust their behavior (even if it's just a tiny, anonymous vote that nobody knows about), many people are slaves of their own perceived perceptions of themselves as "good/decent" people (as defined by current social norms) and therefore would never dare to jump from the security of the false light into the uncertain dark water of the new path.
I don't care what happens to an evil city like San Francisco, it is a bedlam.
