America swept through Iraq in the early 2000's but all they achieved was creating ISIS and now Iran and Russia control the region. This means America lost. In Afgahnistan despite all the tanks and drones they lost. In Vietnam. Same goes for Hitler, Napoleon.

What you are really asking is how far and how deep is USA and EU willing to finance this war and are they willing to send in NATO forces. Russia is not small time players like Iraq or Afgahnistan. They have big players behind them in the background like China, Iran, India, North Korea. Plus from what I read Russia has the best anti missle defence systems in the world and they can produce their own simple anti tank weapons and mass produce solutions like drones from Iran. They are not a push over in my opinion.

Ukraine uses Western inteligence services thats how they stopped the Russians capturing Kiev because they knew exactly what was coming their way. I think thats you mean in that they didnt capture all of Ukraine already. You think the West pays for all those satellites and survalliance stuff for nothing? They knew exactly what was coming and what to prepare.

Anyway to wrap it up and summarise before I write long paragraphs. Russia can play the long game because it is a shit hole resource based economy. The West is a capatilist, services and technology based economy. At some point the West will pull out of the war or face total economic collapse like the British Empire in WW2.
So the answer is this war will continue untill the West pulls out if they dont get a decisive battle field victory soon. Ukraine till now has failed to deliver a total decisive victory yet they are in total war mode already but Russia is not but only just beginning this process.
If Russia can play the long game and stay in it long term they win, if not then the West wins. Thats the answer.

from what I heard, if russia loses ukraine, russia is basically finished. Because ukraine is a natural buffer state between russia and nato. and that ukraine has relatively decent terrain for tank warfare. if ukraine is lost, that means NATO has a spearhead position to cut russia in half with mass tanks. that is to say, isolate northern russia from southern russia.

that was the strategy of blitzkrieg of the german army in ww2 basically, spearhead and punch through the lines of the enemy with armor, concentrated artillery and air support, surround the enemy, and keep pushing.

in the case of ukraine, NATO would start in ukraine, push into central russia, split northwards and upwards, surrounding northern russia and southern russia simultaneously. Russia would then have no option but to use nukes.

Xi jinping probably did not like russia invading ukraine, but now he's stuck and realizes that china could very well be stuck in a similar situation with Taiwan. The American navy is simply too powerful and china would have no oceanic trade. China would have to rely on inland trade and supplies.
