The fourth Matrix movie was such a MASSIVE let down.

They should have NEVER touched it, ever again ... .

there are many people at fault for what happened with various franchises, but my research led me to find that often directors and creators are to blame

you'll often find that a star director was "too cool" to begin work on a sequel on the timeline that the executives would have liked, and this led to a project being stalled or cancelled or given to someone else, and then the director acted like he dindu nuffin in interviews

ridley scott did this, james cameron did this, the wachowskis did this, it's not an uncommon pattern
