They are living on the same Earth, but they are in different realities to each other, whilst one is in hell the other is in an alternate dimension better than the heaven mentioned in the Gospel, neither can see the extremities of each other's inner environment from the outside.
The inhabitants of these dimensions are unaware of the pain, suffering or sheer ecstasy (heaven) of the other person's world. They live out their existences confined to their respective realms despite standing next to each other, they may view the other realm from their realm by the naked eye but they can't feel it, which is the most disappointing of the lacklustre set of truths in this picture.
Neither can perceive the extremities of each other's environments, let alone fathom the works of another so drastically different from their own. Both of their senses and experiences are limited to boundaries, confinements and experiences of a genetic barrier, these realities or dimensions, whatever you'd like to call them, coexist freely in this world despite being a stark antithesis of the other.
If this dichotomy doesn't say much about this wicked planet, the planet that is plagued with its unsettling nature because it allowed the coexistence of polar opposite realities, then I'm not sure what will.
