Ah yeah the mid 90s (1995). Record labels and MTV in the US were playing favourites with rap and r'n'b videos. While metal (and other old-cel genres) were being given the hoof due to their po-faced unmarketable sound and image.
Even a washed up band like Motley Crue did the same shit in 1997.
That said white bands were still getting airplay but it was all Smash Mouth (Shrek All Star), nu-metal (Korn, Limp Bizkit) and Sugar Ray.
Phil Anselmo is racist no doubt and sieg heiled in 2016 too.
