A few years ago, my parents were browsing several vendors at a Campus Event at my former Uni

They bought me a lot of forgettable merch, but I noticed that they bought me this flag:

I immediately told them it represented homosexuality (broadly speaking ofc, my parents are quite ignorant of contemporary social trends), and they were viscerally shocked
I was somewhat surprised that they didn't know anything about Pride flags whatsoever
