Some of these parasites are hosts to smaller parasites, which in turn are a breeding ground for viruses.

Finally, while sperm is cheap, eggs are expensive. From an evolutionary point of view, it kinda makes "sense", that women would only be interested in a minority of high-status men. The monopolized means of reproduction (harems) are just as natural as the monopolized capital in capitalism.
