Patriotism or nationalism. By exploiting his natural chauvinism, you can convince him to become a self-sacrificial worker ant. Even better: you can send him die for you (in WW1, those with children weren't sent to the front lines or had other advantages... Insane modern bullshit is a reason a lot of us are incel... a return to a pre-modern way of life (inc nationalism) would solve this. It seems to me like there weren't incels in pre-modern societies in the same way there are today, or at least there weren't as many.

We'd adapt and have a wife and a family in a sane society with socially enforced monogamy.

Nationalism is the very definition of modernity. In the past, wars were fought by professional soldiers and the peasants couldn't give two shits about who ruled them or about their distant neighbors.

Nationalism is just the modern expression of ape-like tribalism. Tribalism exists in most mammals, it’s an incredibly seductive emotion - indulging it has been shown to release endorphins in the brain. Man’s self-identification with his own people and inability to sympathise with people he doesn’t know well has been the cause of most wars throughout history, certainly there is no easier way to convince him that an atrocity he is committing is being done in the name of justice than to appeal to his need for tribalism. There are few external causes for which man will lay down his life, tribalism/nationalism being one of them, I suspect leaders have known this for a long time, which is why propaganda which promotes it has been such an effective recruitment and motivation strategy over the last century.
