He was diagnosed as dying from Wernicke's encephalopathy which is a degenerative brain disorder caused by a lack of vitamin B1.
They were starving him to death in prison. I don't buy the bullshit about him refusing food - and even if he did they could've monitored his vitamin levels with blood tests and just given him a B1 shot to stop the onset of that disease.
It's also very easy to administer amino acid supplements if someone is refusing to eat.
If a prisoner is chronically depressed from abusive living conditions and attempts suicide, pretty sure guards are supposed to intervene and stop them.
So even if he was doing a hunger strike, you should be obligated to intervene for their health.
My guess is maybe this began as a legit hunger strike, but then he wanted to end it to improve his health, but they never let him.
They probably just pretended he was still hunger-striking as an excuse to starve him, and likely nobody listened to him because they all hated him.
Lesson learned folks: NEVER go on a hunger strike. Never say ANYTHING to this effect. Always make it clear to everyone that you will never compromise your own physical health to make some kind of point.
This will never work, they'll be glad you're doing it because they want you dead and will use it to help murder you.
Gavin Newsome should have intervene to pardon Larson. Newsome should be sued for damages payable to the Larson's daughter and hapa girlfriend. I have great hopes the civil legal system will allow us to peacefully resolve the injustice done to the Larson lineage.
