One way to at least pay less is to build a good portfolio of stocks so one can live off of the earnings because in Germany those earnings are only taxed by up to 25%.
I know this from a co-worker.

But it's fucking ridiculous how if you work a normal / actual job and earn a lot, your income will be taxed with 42%.

The more you earn the higher the percentage with which your income will be taxed.

You are literally incentivised to either work less, work in the black market instead or do daytrading or some shit.
