I doubt very many members here will read this, but here's my thoughts about Symphony of the Night after I finished it.

Overall, the game is good. The exploration is extremely satisfying and always felt rewarding due to the presence of weapons and armors along with certain powers you can unlock. Thanks to how fun it is to explore, I naturally figured out what to do. I only had to resort to a guide to progress once. (Getting the ape to break the bridge.)
The music is of course, fantastic, although not as good as Rondo of Blood. My favorite track probably being the marble gallery:

The combat has a lot of variance to it, largely due to the differences between the weapons you find. I find that this allows you more freedom when it comes to how you finish the game.

Despite these praises, I wouldn't say the game is a masterpiece. It does have issues. The leveling system being the primary problem. They introduced it to give the game more rpg elements and a perceived sense of greater value. My gripe with it is, it forces you to take a sudden stop in progress and grind, which is incredibly tedious. It's also far too easy near the end, thanks to the guardians, to become over leveled. Which in turn just ruins the last part of the game. I don't really know what level is most enjoyable to finish SOTN without either getting one shotted or one shotting bosses. I miss the simplicity of Rondo of Blood and IV, where you were forced to interact with the game challenge and overcome without having to worry about what level you are.

The bosses are a mixed bag in comparison to Rondo of Blood which had some amazing fights. They're either too easy, (the creature being a good example) or they're cheap and there to test how leveled you are via almost unavoidable attacks that take huge chunks of health.

Overall, I'd say the game is a 7/10. Certainly above average.
