What I liked about the game

• set pieces and levels

I very much enjoyed some of the set pieces and levels in this game in terms of visual and aesthetic design. Some favorites would be the underground subway in Leon's campaign, the Russian level in Chris's, and the hospital level in Jake's. There are a few others, but I don't want to spoil the entire game, as half the fun is constantly experiencing these crazy new scenarios.

• controls and gunplay

It's legitimately hard to go back to RE4 and RE5 after experiencing all the mobility you get with RE6. Once you get into the game, the basic gameplay loop is extremely addicting. You're able to easily slide around and get on your back to defend yourself. Melee is more viable than ever as are knives. Everything about the gunplay is perfected. You're able to move and aim now, but the game compensates by making enemies more aggressive.

Now some things I'm partial to
•story and characters
This is an extremely mixed bag. Actually, not really mixed at all. I basically despised every campaign story outside of Jake's, and I only lied about Jake's because Sherry is an adorable waifu.

Leon is a pathetic simp.
His bitch partner is obnoxious.
Chris is good but his partner annoyed me so much as well.
I don't like Ada because she doesn't make my PP hard.

The story itself is god-awful. I don't want to go into why. Let's just say the antagonist sucks.

•music

This game has some amazing music, but it also has some horrible music. Specifically, the theme for the final boss in Leon's campaign made me mute the game.

Now let's discuss things that imo are overwhelmingly bad

• enemies.

The Enemies in RE6 are obnoxious. Primarily because of a mechanic, I'll get into in a second. They're super spongey (especially in Leon's campaign). It takes far too long to kill a single enemy. There are also far too many enemies that use guns, so you rarely get that classic RE loop, and the game feels more like a cover shooter. The only campaign that barely has any is Leon's. (Yes I'm aware RE5 had this issue too, but it wasn't as prominent as it is in RE6) What saves the game from being a cover shooter are the amazing mechanics and controls I previously discussed. You'd able to slide under enemy fire, kick an enemy, then beat the shit out of him.

• Quick-time events

The quick-time events that were annoying in prior RE games are not notable here. In fact, there seem to be far fewer of them during cutscenes. The quick-time events that are obnoxious in this game are of a different variant. Remember having to shake off enemies in RE4 and 5? Well, now, every time an enemy jumps, you're forced to engage with some of the most tedious button-mashing. The worst example is this obnoxious enemy that will swarm you with bugs. You're forced to wiggle the analog sticks as fast as possible. The issue is that no matter how fast you go, the bugs are removing significant chunks of your health. Worse yet, this enemy is extremely hard to notice in the first place so it's far too easy to get jumped by it. Most of my deaths during Chris's campaign came from this enemy.

All enemies initiate these quick time events, but it gets worse and worse as the game progresses and we see more advanced evolutions of enemies. Note also that once you're low on health, these enemies will instantly kill you if they jump you. So it's extremely easy to get jumped multiple times in a roll by enemies you couldn't see due to the game's dim lighting until you get instantly killed by one.

It almost comes close to ruining the gameplay loop for me. I couldn't bother getting into Mercenaries because I was sick of being jumped by these bullet sponges and forced into quick-time events. There's this one flying enemy that takes WAY too many shots that will constantly jump you while you try to fend off the other enemies. I hit him with multiple sniper rifle bullets, and he still wouldn't go down, so I focused on the other zombies, then got jumped by him, forced into a quick-time event, then killed by another zombie's instant kill animation.

Whoever put this mechanic into the game nearly ruined it.

• boss design

This game has bad bosses. There are a few different types you'll encounter.

1. Bullet sponge that spams out enemies as you try to focus on it. The final boss of Leon's campaign is particularly guilty of this and rage-inducing due to the camera refusing to focus on the ground level where enemies are swarming you.

2. Quick time event jank.

A series of random gameplay mechanics such as a chase, turret section, quick time event, and worst of all, having to shoot the boss in slow motion before it kills you. (Half the time you'll be reloading so you'll die)
3. Bad gimmick fights
Gimmicks that aren't particularly infuriating, just boring/too easy and repetitive. Jake and Chris's campaigns are guilty of this. Especially Jake's.

Overall, I don't think RE6 is a bad game. It's certainly above something like Gears of Bore due to the amazing mobility it offers. However, it is an extremely flawed game. Although in all fairness, when I first played it in CO OP it was way more fun. I assume if you have a friend these jank sections are funner due to the chaos of two people trying to coordinate around them.

I'd say it's a 6/10.

Leon's campaign is easily the worst out of the four. So long & boring & the worst enemies to fight.

Leon's is tedious during sections such as the grave yard and final boss, but I actually found it more enjoyable due to the different set pieces. Chris's campaign is the worst imo because it plays like a cheap 360 cover shooter. It also has the most frustrating gimmick section aka the car chase.

I personally hated Leon's campaign the most to the point where I couldn't even finish it. I enjoyed Jake's & Sherries campaign the most personally.

Jake's is fairly fun. It's an improvement over Chris's.

I have no memory of this game, except for the beginning of the leon campaign and that stupid forced walking section. I probably ragequited after that.
