I almost had a date once. I messaged a girl online who lived nearby. We kept emailing back and fourth to schedule a place and time to meet up, but she would take forever to respond so we kept delaying it. Finally she stopped altogether. I felt like complete shit because it got my hopes up. But probably, I would've ended up like OP anyway.
