Back in 2015, I was dating a man who was horrible to me. So, I did what I was supposed to do and called my family to let them know I was about to leave this man.

My mom's visceral reaction was saying, and I have this ingrained in my head; "that happened "cause you slept with the first man who crossed your path, whore".
