I drove for about an hour in city traffic and the clutch is so heavy it feels like I'm driving an 18 wheeler. Doesn't help that you have to press the clutch every ten seconds and keep it pressed at traffic lights. At the end of it I was literally limping

I usually go into neutral when I'm waiting at a traffic light

If you're stopped at an incline for a short time you need to hold the clutch at the biting point or else the car rolls back. Also there usually isn't enough time to shift once the lights turn green because everyone behind you starts honking

I just use cruise control

I'm usually not the first one at the light so I have some time to go into gear.

And what are you saying in the first sentence? If you stopped at a steep incline, you go into neutral and engage the handbrake. Then when the car in front of you starts moving you press down the clutch, go into first gear, go to the biting point and release the handbrake while stepping on the gas. But that's only for a steep incline and if there is a car right behind. Otherwise rolling back a little is fine.

Once I was in the passenger seat of my friend car who he always goes for manual transmission. He was really working, and like very focused and sweating trying to time the gears in all these situations in busy traffic, eg.. when he started going faster but then someone ahead braked, even as he was just driving the normal speed with traffic. I was trying to talk to him but he couldn't listen because he was having to focus so hard.

That's one way to do it but if youre stuck in traffic on a flyover you have to keep moving every few seconds and there isn't enough time to pull the handbrake and then release it again. In that case you have to slip the clutch so the car stays in the same spot without rolling back. And no you can't roll back because retards will tailgate you everywhere

You must be American. That is one of the few places on earth where driving manual is a big task and something to brag about it. Everywhere else it's the norm not the exception. Once you practice enough, shifting gears becomes second nature and you don't even have to think about it

Are you really holding the clutch at the biting point for several seconds while stepping on the gas? You can't be serious

Why would I do that? I just hold the clutch and press the accelerator when it's time to move

"b-b-b-but manual transmissions make you feel more engaged with the driving experience" lol

They are a pain on hills and heavy traffic for sure.

This it wears out the clutch a lot faster if you hold it down instead of putting it in neutral

Enjoy it while it lasts because it is a huge pain to have to replace the clutch, and it already sounds like it’s starting to wear out from what you said in the post

Most clutch assemblies are replaced at 100k anyway and the biting point is still fairly low down so the clutch hasn't worn too much. It probably just needs servicing
