I've been letting my hair grow out recently so I can get long hair, I haven't had a haircut in 2 months so my hair has grown significantly.
I'm not expecting my long hair to get me laid, but I just wanted to try a new hair style since I've had the same hair style my whole life.
My dad has been bugging me by telling me to go get a haircut for 2 weeks now, tons of times he's said "you look like a monkey, go get your hair cut" and today he said "go get your hair cut, you look like one of those gays" in Albanian to me.
I'm not going to get my hair cut, I just don't understand why hes getting so triggered at this. Probably because he can barely grow any hair so he's jealouse of my hair.

But I'm not trying to discourage you. I've been growing mine out for 2 1/2 years from short hair and I have no plans to cut it anytime soon. It took 18 months to ponytail from a buzzcut.

Same, girls don't like me regardless of hairstyle so I figured I might as well grow an impressive mane plus there are other benefits to long hair beyond just how you look. Fewer haircuts, sun protection, winter warmth, low maintenance (unless your hair type sucks)

But yeah I think you should go for it. There's nothing gay about long hair. In fact very few men in the gay community have long hair. If you suddenly decide it was a mistake you can cut it at any time to any hairstyle. There's no downside to it beyond waiting.

You can ask the hair dresser for a particular style though. Maybe you don't currently have a good base shape to let them grow too much. Find a good one who knows her job.
