Before the two stories: I'm a simple guy when it comes to work ethic: I go to work to do my job so I can keep a roof over my head. No drama, no stress, no gossiping, and I don't want to meet friends or partners there. I keep it surface level when it comes to chatting. Work and then go home, very simple.
When I started working as a social worker for a group home for people with disabilities, there was a colleague my age - white, blonde, medium-length hair, hippie-style clothes, woke stereotype - everything seemed fine. On the first day, I politely introduced myself to all my colleagues and asked about the job, a little small talk, because that's a must. One day, we had to transport a patient to a blood draw on foot. It was a long way, and she started talking to me. Out of nowhere, she said to me, "You know what I thought when I first saw you? Creepy!"I had no idea what to say, or why she even wanted to say that to me. Shortly after my probationary month, I received a call from the manager, with whom this colleague was very close friends with, and was given notice of termination without any reason, despite my good performance.
My other job was in sales behind the counter, where I always had to work with another person. All the colleagues behind the counter were women. There, one colleague essentially bullied me the entire time, even though I did my job well. The manager never had a problem with my performance. This colleague repeatedly called me slow and stupid, and was condescending to me for no reason whatsoever. I was later transferred to another branch because it was the Christmas season and they needed me there. My first day at the new branch: A colleague approached me while I was working behind the counter, completely focused, and started asking me questions. I gave superficial, normal answers, and at the end, as she was about to go back to her work, she turned around and said to me: "You give off a negative aura. I hope you don't stay here long."
That was the day I'd had enough, and I quit.
I've never had problems with male colleagues in my life, never. Only with women at work. I just want to do my job without all this BS.
