My boyfriend and I are very happy together and are going on for a year. He treats me like a queen and we have such a good time together. He’s probably the most genuine, golden hearted, loyal person I know and I would be a fool to let go of him.
Lately though I’ve found myself kind of questioning his loyalty but not in the way that you think. I wonder “is he only loyal because he can’t get anyone else?” I’m his first girlfriend and was pretty much his first everything. He isn’t necessarily an unattractive guy but he’s never been one to attract women. I’m not a shallow person so I didn’t care about his looks and felt attracted to his huge heart.
I know this should be enough for me to not care about this dilemma but for some reason it bothers me. The last guy that I dated was pretty much a heartthrob and had women after him all the time. That relationship was incredibly stressful and full of fear, jealousy and heartache. I should be thankful that I don’t have to worry about that anymore. I guess, stupidly, I miss feeling like I was “special”, the one he chose over others (even temporarily). I don’t have that feeling with my current boyfriend because he didn’t really “choose” me.
