Arabic food is maybe only slightly better than Indian food, if not just as bad. It's not particularly enjoyable to eat, and it's fully of carbs and fat that just destroys your body over time. The only Arabic dish I have ever enjoyed was Shawarma.
That part of the world has this massive obsession with over-spicing their food in general. I wrote about this in my journal once, but for whatever reason, people of that region think that the more spices you have in your food, the better—and it always just ends up over-flavoring the food and making it abysmal. I have this theory that nobody over there knows how to make good food, so they try to hide it by confusing your palate with a ton of spices.
Food doesn't need to have tons of spice to make it enjoyable or luxurious—that comes from technique and knowing how to use the ingredients you have. The French barely spice their food, but they were still known for their cuisine particularly because they knew how to use techniques to make food impressive and enjoyable. That's what cooking ACTUALLY is.
