I never have the heart to straight up tell her she isn't ever gonna be a grandma, so I just make up lies about dates and various excuses as to why it never works out romantically.

My mum has shown me pictures of my cousin's baby a few times. I've never seen the baby in real life and have no interest in doing so or looking at pictures of her, and when my mum says things like, "isn't she adorable?" I can't help but be honest and says that she just looks the same as any other baby out there.

I think she's doing it out of desperation, but doesn't realize her motives. I'm 30 and haven't shown her any progress in many years. It's not over the top or anything, her reasoning is probably just to keep me in the loop with family happenings. But I still find it annoying.
