As an ethnic, I've experienced this when I used to work in customer service. When a middle-aged white man had his wife next to him he would be speaking to me like he was a tough guy, knowing full-well that I wouldn't talk back to him because I wanted to keep my job. I'm guessing their wives control them so they try to take out the anger on you to feel manly or something.

I imagine being with some woman that thinks she's better than you and treats you as a commodity eventually wears you down. No wonder my aunt's husband punches walls and has lots of inner anger. He knows deep down he's a betabuxx deluxe who chased a single mother that rejected him many times then finally decided to settle for him when she ran out of options. Enlightening comment.
