Yeah this is partly a cope from Sandman. Its not like most young men are going "monk," its not a choice for them. But it might be a choice for a lot of middle aged men who already had some experiences with women and they have deemed that the dating game is unbeatable. They'll just get financially and emotionally abused, and your reward for all of that is a dead bedroom. For these guys it might be a "choice."
