The cops are pretty loopy these days.

I think if someone feels wronged by the police they are more likely to fight back as opposed to cooperate.

And as the police become more authoritarian people will inevitably feel wronged by them more often.

All that being said I have no idea what the backstory is here. Maybe the police were in the right who knows. They just don't have the best track record anymore.
