The elite aren't embarrassed because they're not in the public eye, nor do they limit their thinking systematically. They construct plans and follow them carefully, with contingencies upon contingencies. I suppose this could be seen as systematic (it is in many ways formulaic), but they have clear goals in mind.

I don't know if systematic thinking in general inherently limits your ability to spot gaps in patterns though.
