Used to be, but to 'actually' play you need to spend around 300 to be competitive if you actually want to play against other people. And the cards rotate out every six months so you're basically having to keep buying cards.
It's free to play in the sense that sure you can play against bots.
it's plenty enjoyable without paying any money, just be humble
