The École Polytechnique Massacre was a mass shooting that occurred on December 6, 1989, at the École Polytechnique de Montréal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The perpetrator, Marc Lépine, fatally shot 14 women and injured 10 other women and four men before taking his own life.
His motive was explicitly anti-feminist; in a classroom, he ordered the men to leave, shouted "You are all feminists and I hate feminists!", and opened fire on the women. A suicide note found on his body blamed feminists for ruining his life and included a list of 19 prominent women he intended to kill.
