Don't know what country you're in. We do have backpage here but its not popular. The most popular site in the UK is Adultwork. Although i think its only a few European countries where its big. Most cities have escort agencies which come up on google and quite a few "independents" have their own websites. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Some of the escort agencies are bit bait and switch but are slightly easier to communicate with, the nearest big city to me used to have a few very good escort agencies but they closed a while ago and the ones operating now have lower quality girls and don't retain them very long. The best girls are generally the independents but they can be harder to arrange something with especially at short notice because obviously a girl who works can't be around to answer the phone all the time.
The sites like Adultwork or Backpage, you always do have an element of dirty skanks and scammers and bait and switch on there. Its difficult to sort them out. There are forums in the UK that have reviews and "punters" talk about girls they have seen so we can filter out the dirty whores and skanks. Adultwork profiles also have reviews, although there have been people who have lots of fake reviews. After doing it for 8 years you develop a knack for filtering out the best. Although in 8 years I've had... 3 or 4 experiences that have been "poor".
