I actually saw this news way earlier this morning, but I was spending most of my time just kind of messing around with my VM and thus I didn't think to post it until later desu. ANYWAY, apparently Canvas is one of those apps that Universities use to basically send all of their data to so that students can submit assignments and have them graded. Last night it got breached by hacking group 'ShinyHunters' and thousands of schools had their data pwned and ransomed. They have until the end of the day on Tuesday to pay the ransom or otherwise the personal info of their professors and students are getting leaked.

Seeing this all happen, I mustn't lie, I find it rather humorous. Now-a-days websites have the most lackluster security ever since they outsource all of their IT needs to Indians and vibecoders. Still, it's also somewhat frustrating... I really wish that more institutions would allow for you to opt out of storing your information in a digital database with them since you KNOW their defenses are horrible and that you don't trust them to store your personal info securely.

I bet you that if you looked at Instructure's digital security team, it would probably just be comprised of DEI and uteroids. Women always somehow find a way to weasel themselves into these positions and then never do anything of note other than post TikToks about their 'work lifestyle.'

The internet was infinitely better when nerdy incels ran everything, because they were actually passionate and good at their jobs. When IT became an oversaturated market, however, it all caught aflame and slowly become the trash heap that it is today. Brutal...

Oh, by the way, when I say this was a major data breach, I mean MAJOR. There are apparently 9,000+ Jewniversities that use this retarded application—including all of the Ivy League colleges (and you should think they would have the money to build their own systems, lol~) and when Canvas got informed that they were pwned and ransomed all the way back on April 29th, they didn't inform anyone and just did some basic 'security upgrades,' LMAO.

I find it funny that the comment section of any video talking about this is chock-full of uteroids and faggots whining and asking why ShinyHunters is targeting this 'Canvas' app instead of insurance companies or the government—these people are genuinely delusional if they think there is a single group out there that bothers themselves to try and breach those kinds of websites, considering that they have infinitely more to lose and have way stronger security systems.

ShinyHunters was actually pretty smart for targetting academia—it always has some of the worst security, and yet stores all kinds of personal information that you HAVE to give them lest they won't let you sign up for your Liberal Arts degree.

'Shiny Hunters' the real ones got arrested a long time ago, iirc.

I don't keep up with that kind of stuff desu, although now that you mention it, I DO recall seeing a video a long time ago about this group getting disbanded or something because they all got hunted down by the FBI.

Anything that hurts academia is a good thing, especially with something as misguided as a third-party data miner controlling all aspects of education.

That's basically my view on it, LMAO. I despise academia so much that I can't even begin to quantify my hatred for it.

one can never state this enough times, unfortunately it doesn't satisfy the perverted normie mind
