I actually saw this news way earlier this morning, but I was spending most of my time just kind of messing around with my VM and thus I didn't think to post it until later desu. ANYWAY, apparently Canvas is one of those apps that Universities use to basically send all of their data to so that students can submit assignments and have them graded. Last night it got breached by hacking group 'ShinyHunters' and thousands of schools had their data pwned and ransomed. They have until the end of the day on Tuesday to pay the ransom or otherwise the personal info of their professors and students are getting leaked.
Seeing this all happen, I mustn't lie, I find it rather humorous. Now-a-days websites have the most lackluster security ever since they outsource all of their IT needs to Indians and vibecoders. Still, it's also somewhat frustrating... I really wish that more institutions would allow for you to opt out of storing your information in a digital database with them since you KNOW their defenses are horrible and that you don't trust them to store your personal info securely.
I bet you that if you looked at Instructure's digital security team, it would probably just be comprised of DEI and uteroids. Women always somehow find a way to weasel themselves into these positions and then never do anything of note other than post TikToks about their 'work lifestyle.'
The internet was infinitely better when nerdy incels ran everything, because they were actually passionate and good at their jobs. When IT became an oversaturated market, however, it all caught aflame and slowly become the trash heap that it is today. Brutal...
