It depends on the type of friends. There are people that you casually chat with when you see them, like fellow employees at work, and people that you actually do stuff with. The latter are much harder to come by as they will often leave you behind as time goes on, and most of the "friends" you have as you get older are the former as they do not have the time or inclination to want to hang around with casual acquaintances after work hours.
