The only difference between those people and Josef Mengele is that Mengele had more leeway than them. Things like morality and love are efforts people have to make. It's very easy to only love what's beautiful and pleasant, or to bend down to a crooked current idea of morality for self-benefit, but it's difficult to actually love people indiscriminately like Jesus and eastern religions teach (the concept of "meta") and actually be moral and fair.
